Getting to work…

on processing course readings for class next Tuesday. I have this idea, it is the next version of my exploration into methods for reading and writing. What I am noticing is that I need a process for processing texts, I need my own methodology for reading scholarly texts, and working through a translation/transition process so that the texts become integrated into my own knowledge schema. For last Thursday’s class, I worked through a layering, collage, writing, drawing and painting process that resulted in the production of a one page 200 word paper. I was very happy with my written output. I’m going to carry on with my design process here, as a way to develop – both the production of a satisfying visual work informed by the readings, and the production of a satisfying piece of text that synthesizes the readings, the literature, and my own research. If a 200 page paper is basically three paragraphs, these three elements give me a focus for each of the paragraphs. I do think structurally, even as I use chance operations to fill in the blanks.
