I have been accepted…

to present at another small conference. This one is coming up in June:

On behalf of the e-Strategy Town Hall 2008 Planning Committee, I’m pleased to inform you that the proposal you submitted for an Interactive Seminar at Town Hall 2008 has been accepted.
General registration will begin later today, so we want to make sure the description of your presentation (which will listed on the Registration form and printed in the Program) is accurate and concise:

This presentation explores the use of articulation as a theory and a methodology to discuss the implications of bringing cultural perspectives of ICT into educational contexts. Recent examples from the news media show the growing tension between the significance of ICT in society, and perceptions of ICT within educational institutions. Articulation provides a method for presenting a complex, evolving discourse as a lived reality within a blog environment. Theories about communication, power and politics, and literacy are presented as a place to begin the difficult conversations that are needed to enable educators to engage with ICT within their educational practices. The construction of ICT ‘experts’ in education has created unsustainable dependencies within teaching communities. It has also limited discourse about the meanings, associations, and ideologies connected to perceptions of ICT in educational practice. I hope that this paper, and the associated blog http://educationictculture.wordpress.com/ will support critical discourse in educational contexts to support educators and their students in their engagement with ICT.
